Night Treatment Pedagogue at SiS Youth Home Stigby
The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life becomes an exciting challenge. No matter where in our organization you work, or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.
SiS Youth Home Stigby on Visingsö has space for 35 young people and receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse. We are divided into a MBB department (reception and needs assessment), four treatment departments, and a discharge preparation department in Jönköping.
Job Description
SiS Youth Home Stigby has an open department in Jönköping with three places and is now looking for night staff.
Stigby has an integrated care chain, where the young person is gradually guided towards a higher degree of personal responsibility that follows the youth's motivation and individual ability. The work in the open department is focused on treatment work in more open forms, where you will work with young people who have lived in an institution for a longer time and are assessed to be ready to manage living in more open forms with a higher degree of independence. Activities mainly take place outside the department and are based on establishing the youth in pro-social contexts. The goal is to equip the youth to manage an independent life in important areas such as housing, employment, leisure, and pro-social contacts. The work requires independence, experience, and personal maturity.
As a night treatment pedagogue, you help young people find their way in life by being a safe and stable role model. You are responsible for the department's safety at night. The job involves working alone in the department, and includes supervision tasks and documentation. The work requires a lot of independence, accuracy, and knowledge of work environment and safety.
We work based on our core values: Respect, Care, and Clarity.
Our vision is to be a place for change, which permeates our approach, our commitment, and our attitude.
Qualifications
To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of people. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's core values of being a place for change. As a person, you are confident in yourself and find it easy to build relationships with young people as well as with other staff members. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in pressured situations. You find it easy to collaborate with others and can handle conflicts constructively.
You should also have:
- A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or education from a university, e.g. social worker, social pedagogue, or other education that we assess as equivalent
- Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g. from institutional placements, psychiatry, HVB operations, or from care and support
- Driver's license B
- Good Swedish language skills in both speech and writing
- An interest in working with vulnerable youth who need support and being a good adult role model. You can share your safety and stability.
- Being a colleague who shares knowledge and contributes to the sense of community at SiS are other qualities that make you interesting.
We place great importance on your personal suitability.
At SiS, we care about good employee engagement. This means that you as an employee take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good cooperation. Read more about our employee engagement.
